GVC students to pitch biz idea

By Steven Sukkau

Part-time business tycoons and full-time students Alwina Friesen and Sandra Froese will put their business education to the test this weekend at the Manitoba High School Investment Competition in Winnipeg.

The competition will have the two Garden Valley Collegiate students pitch their start-up business idea to a panel of judges and will be marked on their oral presentation and marketing materials.

Their company, Seasonal Servants, is a Christmas decorating service that specializes in putting up lights, trees and other holiday decorations.

Froese explained their business idea.

"Families are a lot busier today than they were 10 to15 years ago. Our season decorating business idea is an additional service that will be provided for busy families as well as those who are no longer physically able."

Business teacher Susana Hawryshko said the pair have spent over 30 hours outside of class preparing for the competition against nine other teams from Winnipeg and The Pas.
