Driver charged for pursuit, resisting arrest 0
A 43 year old R.M. of Stanley resident is facing charges of resisting arrest, careless driving, driving without a valid licence and breach of recognizance following a June 19 chase.
Morden Police Service saw a vehicle travelling east on Thornhill Street in Morden go through the intersection of 1st Street at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was accelerating and police activated their emergency lights and turned around to stop the vehicle.
The vehicle turned south on to a side road about a mile east of Morden and stopped for police. The lone male driver was advised of the reason for being stopped and advised his license was invalid. A check on the driver revealed that his license expired in 2002 and he was on a recognizance with a condition not to driver or operate any motor vehicle.
Police asked the driver to step out of his vehicle, but he then swung his arms away from police and refused to co-operate. The driver then attempted to break free of the officer's grip and began walking away. He continued to struggle before being placed on the ground, handcuffed and taken into custody. Police later received a call from an individual stating they witnessed this vehicle driving carelessly through Morden.
