RCMP are investigating the thefts of two boats discovered the same day from rural locations near Morden.
The first report came in around 2 p.m. June 19 when a property owner in the R.M. of Stanley discovered a break-in to a shed. Stolen was a white fibre glass boat with a value of approximately $300.
And just 10 minutes later, another call came in to the RCMP about the theft of a boat, motor and trailer sometimeovernight from a business location in the RM of Stanley.
The boat is a Blue 2004 Lund Powerboat with a metal hull pulled by a silver 2003 Ezlo trailer and a 50 HP Honda outboard motor valued at around $5,000. Under investigation.
Meanwhile, the Carman Area RCMP also responded to three accidents in their Altona, Morden and Carman detachments during the week of June 18 to 25.
The first accident was a two vehicle collision around 4 p.m. June 21 at the junction of Highway 201 and Road 16 West in the RM of Rhineland.
When police arrived, one vehicle was on the side of the road and the other partially in the ditch. A 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck had been traveling south on Road 16 West when it approached Highway 201, and the dirt became very deep, causing the truck to slide. The driver attempted to brake, however due to the muddy conditions, the mud locked the wheels and the vehicle entered the intersection and struck the oncoming 2007 Ford Escape traveling east. There were no injuries.
The second accident happened around 10:20 p.m. June 22 when a vehicle accident hit a deer on Highway 3. RCMP then learned the driver of the 2002 Pontiac Grand AM was suspended from driving and was charged under the Highway Traffic Act.
Then RCMP were called around 3 a.m. June 24 when a 37 year old man was spotted by police operating a golf cart on a road in the Town of Carman. The man tried to flee from police but ended up crashing the golf cart into the police car. The man faces charges of impaired driving, assaulting a peace officer, flight from policeand obstructing police.
