Amphicar coming to Pembina Valley 0
By Glen Hallick
Sometimes when Jeff Norton drives, he likes to make a big splash.
And he'll be making a big splash at Stephenfield Lake this Sunday afternoon and in Morden next month.
Going in head first will be his little red Amphicar - an amphibious car built in the 1960s.
This summer, Norton is touring Manitoba showing off his 1966 model as part of a fundraiser for the Parkinson Society of Manitoba.
His 71-year-old dad, Bryan, died in February after a 14-year battle with the disease that still has no cure.
Norton and his amphicar, which he bought in 2010 for $42,500, will scoot around the lake giving rides to those who donate to the Parkinson Society.
He might even let you drive it too.
Besides Stephenfield the amphicar will be floating by Island Park in Portage la Prairie August 11 and in Morden during the Corn and Apple Festival August 25.
All appearance times are from Noon to 5 p.m.
