Orioles and Bisons even at game apiece 0
The Pembina Valley Orioles and Altona Bisons were having opposite results in the early going of the Manitoba Junior Baseball League playoffs.
The third place Orioles were edged 4-3 in Morden Tuesday (July 17) by the sixth place St. James As in game one of their best of five series, while the fourth place Altona Bisons blanked the fifth place Elmwood Giants 4-0.
Then on Thursday (July 19), Pembina Valley bounced back with a 3-0 blanking of St. James in Winnipeg, while, the Bisons were doubled up 4-2 by the Giants.
St. James scored three runs with two out in the top of the sixth inning for the game one win. Dustin Donald had two home runs for the Orioles, who also got another long shot from Brent Dunn.
Colin Waldner pitched a full game for the Bisons in game one, allowing four hits and striking out nine while also getting three hits and three RBIs.
Both series were continuing Monday in Morden and Altona then returning to Winnipeg for the fourth games Tuesday. If the series go the distance, the fifth games were to be in Morden and Altona Wednesday.
