Former employee charged with business break-in 0
Winkler police have charged a former employee after a local business was broken into July 25.
Police were called to investigate the overnight break, enter and theft at Bend-it on George Street. Entry was gained by breaking a window at the rear of the building. A small amount of cash, an iPad and numerous sundry items from the coffee room were stolen.
A former employee was identified as a suspect, and within a few days the evidence was acquired to obtain a search warrant for that suspect's residence. A search of the man's home turned up numerous stolen items from the business.
A 20 year old male has been charged with break, enter and theft, possessing property obtained by crime, and breach of probation. He was released for a court date in August.

July 28- At 3:38 a.m., officers received a call from a woman requesting assistance with her husband, who had come home drunk and was demanding she give him keys to her vehicle. Officers attended to find several people there, including friends of the couple who offered to take the heavily intoxicated man for the night.
July 29 - While on patrol shortly before 9 p.m., officers noticed a large group of teens and young adults on the east side of the Southland Mall. On approaching the group, officers saw a lone male break away from the group, attempting to hide a large bottle as he walked towards his vehicle. He male continued to walk towards the vehicle where he placed the bottle into the back seat before getting behind the wheel. Officers continued the investigation by speaking to the man, when a number of males from the crowd approached and became confrontational with the officers. A second police unit was called to the scene to assist. A passenger in he car was found to be intoxicated, incoherent and unable to care for himself. He was taken into custody under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act. A search of the vehicle turned up partial bottle of vodka, a replica hand gun, a throwing knife and a set of brass knuckles.
The owner of the vehicle, a 23 year old male, was arrested and released on a charge for having liquor in a vehicle other than as authorized, and one charge under the Criminal Code for possession of a prohibited weapon for the brass knuckles.
