South Central came up short on the weekend at the Manitoba peewee AAA baseball championship - falling 2-1 to eventual champion Bonivital in the semi-finals.
Bonivital went on to take the title with a 14-2 win over Winnipeg South at the tournament held in Morden.
South Central had opened the weekend with a 15-4 loss to Winnipeg South but rebounded with wins of 23-3 over Parkland, 10-9 over St. James and 13-3 over Oildome. It then moved into the playoffs after an 8-5 tiebreaker win over St. James.
Meanwhile, South Central advanced to the Western Canada bantam championship as the second Manitoba rep. after a 3-0 win over Oildome at the provincial AAA bantam tournament in Brandon.
After losing their opener 7-0 to St. James, South Central picked up wins of 8-2 over Brandon, 14-3 over Bonivital and 13-1 over Midwest. They lost their semi-final 5-1 to Winnipeg South, which later took the title with a 10-2 win over Brandon.

Morden minor ball is hosting the Western Canadian AA baseball championship the weekend of August 17 to 19.
It comes on the heels of Morden having successfully hosted the Baseball Manitoba Bantam AA provincial championship July 20 to 22.
The tournament will pit the best 15 teams in midget, bantam and peewee AA baseball from across western Canada against each other at the Access Event Centre.
Games will be played over the three days on diamonds 3 and 4 as well as Buhler diamond.
And organizers were putting out another call for volunteers to lend a hand.

All volunteers will be supplied with a weekend pass which is valued at $20. Admission is $10 per day or $5 for an evening game.
