Carman Area RCMP are investigating a number of break-ins, thefts, vandalism and fires from the week of August 6 to 13.
The weekly report on calls in the Morden, Altona and Carman detachments began with a report August 6 of vandalism to a farm tractor left parked in field off of Road 306 in the RM of Roland. Two side windows of the tractor were smashed with beer bottles which were left behind. Damage is estimated at about $250.
On August 7, RCMP received a report of a fire to a 1995 GMC pickup truck as well as a gooseneck flatbed trailer attached to the truck in the RM of Grey the previous night. Both were completely destroyed, and the tires were scorched on another truck and gooseneck trailer which had been parked nearby.
RCMP were then called August 10 about the theft of seven rings from a home in the Town of Miami. Police took statements as well as conducted neighborhood inquiries.
That same day, RCMP were also called to a fire in the town of Fannystelle. The fire was discovered in the electrical room in the Viterra elevator when an alarm had gone off, and all the employees were evacuated. The investigation found a failed capacitor had over heated and caught fire. The fire was confined only to the electrical box, and damage was limited. Estimated damage for repairs and clean up is $5,000.
On August 12, RCMP received a report of the theft of a blue and white 2004 Yamaha YZ250 dirt bike from a shed located in the RM of Thompson. The bike is described as being like new.
Then on August 13, RCMP were called about a break-in and theft from a trailer over the weekend in the RM of Stanley. Entry was gained by cutting the lock. Stolen was a variety of tools which included brand names such as Dewalt, Milwaukee and Lincolin with a value of $3,500.
