A 16 year old Gretna girl died following a single vehicle accident near Emerson Monday evening.
At about 9 p.m., Morris RCMP were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on PR 218, one mile east of PR 200 near Emerson.
RCMP said officers and local area Fire and EMS arrived on the scene, and extricated a 16-year-old Gretna female passenger from the vehicle. She was transported to a Winnipeg hospital in critical condition, but died of her injuries in the early hours of August 6. Her name will not be released.
The driver, identified as a 16-year-old Emerson male, received medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
It was learned that the vehicle was heading west on PR 218 when the driver lost control and the vehicle hit the ditch.
Morris RCMP continue to investigate the accident. Alcohol is not considered a factor.
