Teams from Carman and Morden will be joining the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame next year.
The Carman Goldeyes Juniors (1971-1974) and Morden Mohawks (1993-2000) have been chosen as 2018 inductees in the Special and Major Teams categories, respectively.
The inductees are "outstanding players, builders and teams who have left their legacy both on and off the baseball field."
The Carman Goldeyes dominated Junior baseball in Manitoba between 1971 and 1974, capturing four MJBL and provincial titles in four years.
The team's hallmarks were strong pitching, batting and defense.
Many of the players participated all four years and went on to illustrious senior careers. Several have already been inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame as individuals or as part of senior teams.
The Morden Mohawks won the Border League championships for 11 consecutive seasons, and for 13 of 14 years, beginning in 1987.
In 1994, the team recorded a perfect 24-0 season, which earned them recognition as the Manitoba Baseball Team of the Year.
The team competed in the majority of the provincial Senior B championships and was a dominant supplier of players to the roster for provincial A teams during this era.
Players also competed with the A team at the Western Canadian Championships in 1993, 1994 and 1997.
The Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame will hold its induction ceremony in Morden on June 2, 2018.
