AMUsing Comedy & Music Tour

Who says every event held in a church has to be solemn and serious? Certainly not clean comedian Leland Klassen and Christian recording artist Dan Macaulay, that’s for sure. Leland and Dan will bring their comedy and music show called “AMUsing” to Morden Alliance Church on Friday November 17th and it will be anything but quiet or somber.

MORDEN -

Who says every event held in a church has to be solemn and serious? Certainly not clean comedian Leland Klassen and Christian recording artist Dan Macaulay, that’s for sure. Leland and Dan will bring their comedy and music show called “AMUsing” to Morden Alliance Church on Friday November 17th and it will be anything but quiet or somber.
“I think many people are surprised once we get going…” says Dan. “We hear a lot of things like, ‘I haven’t seen my husband laugh that hard in years!’ - Maybe that’s unexpected for a church-event, but if so, we’re glad to be the exception!”
Leland Klassen and Dan Macaulay have spent more than 20 years touring in their respective crafts. Leland, as a stand-up comedian, has been making people bust-a-gut laughing in clubs and festivals, as well as churches, for years; all with jokes clean enough that both your 8 year old child and your 88 year old conservative granny could listen in and laugh along. This formida-ble talent has won him appearances on national broadcasts like ‘Just For Laughs’ and CBC among many others. Dan Macaulay is an award-winning songwriter, recording artist and former pastor who has the ability to get a room singing along to even the silliest of songs. Now, in the last three years Leland and Dan have brought their talents together to create an original event like nothing you’ve ever attended.
Created to be friendly to all, young or old, church-attenders or not; people can expect a wide range of reasons to enjoy themselves at an “AMUsing” show. You’ll find everything from hilari-ous standup, to on-the-spot improv, to wide-ranging parody music and memories, and a musical number called “Things Kids Say” you simply have to hear. There’s a little something for every-one in the room. The night moves fast and the hilarity keeps coming. If you’ve got breath to laugh with, “AMUsing” is for you.
The “AMUsing Comedy & Music Tour” will be at Morden Alliance Church, 181 15 Street for one performance only on Friday November 17th at 7:00 pm. Doors will open to the public at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $10 in advance (or $15 at the door) and are available in advance online at http://amusingtour.ca or from the Morden Alliance Church office (204) 822-4060. For more info contact the church. All are welcome.
Dan Macaulay
Acclaimed Canadian-born worship leader and singer/songwriter Dan Macaulay, is a GMA Canada Covenant Award winner and nine-time nominee, with songs being sung by churches and played on radio around the world; but his passion is simply seeing churches and individual believers grow in worship, in both song and action, as a response to God’s goodness.
As a pastor for 8 years, and having led worship in venues across Canada, the U.S., and internationally for 20 years; Dan now takes his considerable pastoral and worship-leading experience with him on the road serving churches of all shapes and sizes, blessing them, and encouraging them in their worship.
With a mix of musical and teaching gifts, Dan believes in serving local pastors, helping them to ‘move the ball forward’ in their vision for growth in worship at their church; meeting churches where they’re at and taking baby steps forward; endeavoring to inspire and deposit something that lasts beyond one weekend visit.
Leland Klassen
Raised on a farm in the heart of Canada, Leland quickly learned that shovelling manure and weeding potatoes, although lucrative, wasn’t his passion in life.  So with absolutely no clear direction or vision for his future he did what everyone does when they find themselves in that position  - he went to University.   He wisely chose his classes based on whichever cute girl happened to catch his attention and after several short years of last minute cramming and late assignments Leland graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Anthropology.
As you might have guessed, Leland’s university education opened many doors for him in the years to come, but for some reason he was dissatisfied working for a courier as a night shift stock boy.  By this time married and with his first child soon on the way the most responsible and obvious choice was, of course, to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
Starting off at amateur nights and seedy bars Leland decided right from the beginning that he would remain clean despite what everyone else was doing and as a result over the last 16 years Leland has become recognized as Canada’s premier clean comedian.  With his unique intelligence and wit Leland has carved out quite a niche for himself in the world of entertainment.  Using his farm boy charm and handsome (although somewhat inbred) Mennonite good looks, Leland’s clever observations and rich life experiences are brought to life in a one of a kind show.
