Southern Manitoba Christian band The Color received seven nominations for the Canadian Gospel Music Awards.
The group was nominated for Group of the Year, Pop Song of the Year for Surprise and First Day of My Life, Recorded Song of the Year for Surprise, Song of the Year for Surprise, Male Vocalist of the Year and Artist of the Year. “We are thrilled to be included in this year’s nominations,” lead singer Jordan Janzen said. “We are in the midst of a lot of great talent and it’s an honour to be recognized.”
The Color has long made it their mission to share God’s love with their fans through music.
“There is a reality that winning awards is not the reason we do what we do, but it is affirming to see that our music is making an impact,” he added. “We are thankful for that.”
Bandmate James Shiels commended Janzen on being nominated for vocalist of the year, a category the group has not been nominated for in the past.
“Jordan is nominated for this award and, honestly, we are all hoping he can take that one home,” Shiels said.
