Local skiers excel


Local skiers will be heading to provincial and national competition. The Boundary Trails Nordic Ski Team is looking to conclude their 2017-18 ski season on a high note with competitions at the MB Games and the Canadian National Championships. The team consists of athletes ranging in age from 9 to 18 from Altona, Winkler, Morden and surrounding region.
At the recent Provincial Cross Country Ski Championships the entire Boundary Trails Nordic Team qualified to represent the South Region at the MB Games in Thompson Mar 4-8.
Four local skiers also qualified for Team Manitoba to compete at nationals.
The three most senior members of the Boundary Trails Nordic Ski Team have qualified to be part of a 14 athlete team from Manitoba to the National Cross Country Ski Championships March 10-17 in Thunder Bay. They include Tessa Warkentine, Matt Klassen and Aaron Warkentine. Joining them at Nationals will be Levi Warkentine who now ski’s for the Lakehead University Ski Team and BTN coach Lorne Warkentine as technician for Team MB.
