A Carman Collegiate grade 12 student has been awarded a leadership scholarship for achievement in both sport and school.
Alex Clemis was one of 16 students from across Manitoba who were named as recipients of a 2018 McDonald’s Leadership Award last week.
The award is distributed by the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association, with “generous support from McDonald’s Manitoba.”
The $1,000 scholarships are awarded each year to eight graduating female high school student athletes, and eight male high school student athletes, all of whom maintained a minimum 75% average and “demonstrated exceptional leadership in high school sport, school and community involvement.”
Clemis has participated in track and field, hockey, badminton and cross-country while also earning an academic average of 96%.
All recipients were nominated by their schools.
The presentation took place at a McDonald’s location in Winnipeg on Tuesday, May 29.
