Rural schools claim medals

WINNIPEG - 

Teams and individuals throughout southern Manitoba picked up some of the top prizes at the 2018 Milk Provincial High School Track and Field Championships.
Second place finishes were claimed by two student athletes, both in junior varsity high jump.
Elm Creek’s Jaylyn Deurbrouck and Alex Allan of St. Claude both took the silver in the female and male categories of the event.
Eight bronze medals were awarded throughout the southern Manitoba teams.
Altona’s W.C. Miller Collegiate claimed two, both in the relay category. The school claimed third place in the 4x100 varsity and junior varsity relay event.
Sanford also claimed a pair of bronze medals. Dawson Mann took third in the varsity 800m run, while Jaydon Bouska won third in JV Javelin.
Bronze medals also went to a pair of Winkler students, Northlands Parkway Collegiate’s Henry Klassen in the Boys JV 3000m run and Garden Valley Collegiate’s Victor Keeper in Varsity Javelin.
Manitou’s Parker Friesen took third in the JV 400m dash, and Carman’s Hailey Anderson won third in JV Javelin.
